When you’re too late for the old “prevention is better than a cure”, and you’ve found yourself with heels that resemble the grand canyon, here’s what to do:

1)      Dress any deep cracks with betadine to avoid infection

2)      Use strapping tape around the heels – a few strips of Elastoplast (or any tape really…) will help compress the fat pad and reduce the pressure on the skin, and the tape will also trap the moisture on the skin. Double whammy!

3)      Use heel balm (must have UREA) like its going out of fashion, wear closed in shoes and get into your Podiatrist ASAP!
